Victorian Flat Refurbishment

A 721 sq ft two-bed flat with a terrace: birch plywood banisters, a sage alcove desk and a completely rebuilt bathroom.

Living room with a sage alcove unit, black fireplace and arched mirror

The story

A 721 sq ft (67 m²) two-bedroom flat whose owner had lived there nine years and was ready for a change. The bedroom was kept calm and natural with a bespoke birch plywood banister and a made-to-measure wardrobe for a ceiling that dips to 106 cm.

In the living room, bare alcoves became shelving and a pull-out desk, and the hidden fireplace was exposed and finished in black. The bathroom was stripped completely: the bath became a shower with black metal panels, the toilet moved to a wall-hung unit topped with reclaimed scaffolding, and snowflake tiles went on the walls.
